Well never mind. After Briddish Petroleum, there must be other Briddish companies, or the Briddish taxpayer, that we can shake down, bully, browbeat, or generally coerce to replace the dough. After all, we have a Special Relationship.

Well I'm blowed! Our thanks to Carl, who hails from the US, for knowing more about our English local currencies than we did, including one in Stroud, only a few miles from the Daily Moaner's palatial office building.

Many thanks...

Nice to have the pingback... but your commenter "Bullitt" lifted my whole post and rephrased it to suggest it was a conversation between himself and a colleague.

Many people would say I should be flattered.

Many other people would use the word "plagiarism".

BUTTE, MONTANA

Shotgun Preteen vs. Illegal Alien Home Invaders

Two illegal aliens, Ralphel Resindez, 23, and Enrico Garza, 26, probably believed they would easily overpower home-alone 11 year old Patricia Harrington after her father had left their two-story home.

It seems the two crooks never learned two things: they were in Montana and Patricia had been a clay shooting champion since she was nine.

Patricia was in her upstairs room when the two men broke through the front door of the house. She quickly ran to her father's room and grabbed his 12 gauge Mossberg 500 shotgun.

Resindez was the first to get up to the second floor only to be the first to catch a near point blank blast of buckshot from the 11-year-old's knee crouch aim. He suffered fatal wounds to his abdomen and genitals.

When Garza ran to the foot of the stairs, he took a blast to the left shoulder and staggered out into the street where he bled to death before medical help could arrive.

It was found out later that Resindez was armed with a stolen 45 caliber handgun he took from another home invasion robbery. That victim, 50-year-old David 0' Burien, was not so lucky. He died from stab wounds to the chest.

Ever wonder why good stuff never makes NBC, CBS, PBS, MSNBC, CNN, or ABC news........an 11 year old girl, properly trained, defended her home, and herself......against two murderous, illegal immigrants........and she wins.
She is still alive.

Now that is Gun Control!

Thought for the day....
Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'

I like this kind of e-mail. American citizens defending themselves and their homes.

I was a pistol owner for many years until the knee-jerk reaction after the Dunblane killings was exploited by New Labour so that they could ban all handguns and my legally held pieces had to be handed in to a police station. I was financially compensated some months later, but that is hardly the point. Pistol shooting is more than a sport, it is a discipline and a fellowship. Most people find it hard to achieve accuracy initially, and the stance, balance, breathing and hand to eye co-ordination takes time to master, but there were always more experienced shooters ever-ready to assist and encourage the novice. Of course there were ways and means of securing pistols but the government and the woefully uninformed public would have none of it and they were banned. The government claimed that gun crime would be greatly reduced virtually overnight - but that didn't happen, did it? In fact gun crime has risen by a not inconsiderable amount. A hobby ruined at great expense, closure of smaller gunsmiths and consequent loss of jobs. Oh, just marvellous, yet another right removed from the responsible, along with so many others.

Have to agree with a lot you say, and I take your point about the VAST majority. I have no objection to gun-clubs where the security is water-tight. I believe annual checks for competancy and sanity would be nice (though I also believe MPs should have them too.)

Mr Bird's guns were NOT illegal, but properly licenced. But they were kept at his home, where he could just grab them and be off. If he had had to sign them out of a gun club, maybe the result would have been different. I cannot believe that he could have knocked up so many kills with a knife or a car, as you say.

I'm sorry, but the applicant's GP is already consulted for both a shotgun cert. and a firearms licence. I do think that perhaps a repeat check on an annual basis would be sensible. We already have some of the toughest gun controls in the world - I would argue that they are (slightly) too tough. As a teenager I used to shoot at a local gun club, supervised by an ex-Sgt Majot who took NO nonsense at all - this taught me an awful lot about gun safety and self-discipline, whilst keeping me off the streets. The guns were loaned by the club and were kept there very securely. Most of the people who had their own guns chose to leave them at the club. The position now is that even our olympic shooting team have to practice abroad as a result of the blanket ban on pistols. Now, I know I shouldn't be able to legally keep a Glock beside the bed (much as I'd like to), but the VAST majority of legal gun owners in this country are very responsible and many need their guns (farmers for example for both vermin control and to humanely & quickly destroy injured stock). The major problem with firearms in this country lays with illegal guns and that is where the police should focus their attention. If Mr Bird had not had guns, he could easily have accomplished the same results with a knife or a car.
